Abstract

Betok fish (Anabas testudineus)are consumption and ornamental fish, which makes fishermen still rely on catches from nature. This increase in exploitation is also accompanied by environmental damage that occurs in the river. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the composition of natural feed on the intestinal and gastric contents of A. testudineus based on the main food eaten by the fish. Intestinal and gastric content analysis research can provide basic information to preserve the population of Betok fish (A. testudineus). Research on the analysis of intestinal and gastric contents of A. testudineus in the Batang Masang Kenagarian Bawan River, District IV, Agam Regency, was carried out in April-May 2021. The results showed that A. testudineus was an omnivorous fish because in digestion dominated by Bacillaryophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Protozoa, Ciliata, Rotarita/Rotifera, and Crustacean species with 25 species as many as 5.858 ind/ml. The natural diet of phytoplankton that dominates is the Bacillaryophyceae class and the dominant zooplankton is the Crustacean class.
